What Is Arnica Montana?
Arnica Montana is an herbal remedy that some doctors may recommend to help decrease swelling, soreness and bruising after your facial rejuvenation procedure.
Also known as mountain tobacco, mountain arnica, common arnica, leopard's bane, sneezewort and arnica, this perennial plant has orange-yellow flowers and resembles a daisy.
Arnica Montana has been used for medicinal purposes since the 1500s. It's available as a cream, an ointment, a tincture (liquid solution), an injectable and in pill form.
Warning: If this herb is taken in raw form, intestinal bleeding and abdominal cramps may occur. Always follow the dosing instructions on the product label.
If your doctor recommends Arnica, he or she will likely have suggestions about the brand, the dosage and the form in which it should be taken. Be sure to get clearance from your doctor before you use any herbal, including Arnica.
All About Facial Rejuvenation is a consumer resource dedicated to educating patients on non-surgical treatments such as Botox and chemical peels in addition to surgical procedures such as eyelid surgery, face lift and nose job.
